The Election Reality
Ok, the reality is we have a fascist felon at the top of one party's ticket. This felon was president before, impeached twice, weakened the hegemony of the US (which I sort of favor, but he did it very fucked up, and now there's a power vacuum to be filled), and many Americans died under his watch for calling COVID a hoax.
Recently, he was convicted from stealing from his own company to pay off a porn star that he cheated on his third wife with. But before that, instead of having our traditional peaceful transfer of power, he lied about the election being stolen from him, only because of his ego. The Christian Nationalists love him anyway because he and the current SCOTUS managed to reverse a 50 year precedence on abortion right protections, and now he will help those Christian Nationalists (which some of you are) set up a theocracy... and so on and so on.
And then on the other party's ticket, we have Kamala Harris. Someone who will protect social security (it's a cornerstone of the Democratic party), and choice, but more importantly, our democracy.
We need to move forward in this country not back. Her campaign slogan seems to be, "We're not going back." And as someone who feels we've regressed enough, I am voting for Kamala.
So you tell me, US voters, who do you want as the President? As you can imagine, I have a difficult time about "undecided" voters, but I want to know, who are you going to vote for?
The two candidates are not equivalent…not even close. As someone else put it:
It's like going in a restaurant and the server telling you that there are two choices: there is a grilled cheese sandwich and then there is a shit sandwich with broken glass in it, but you can't decide, so you keep asking about the shit sandwich (Trump).
And let me finish the analogy:
Even though you actually ate the shit sandwich once before because you wanted something different, and it almost killed you. But here you are now sitting there wondering if it will taste different this time around. You also ask about a third option, and the server tells you that there is dishwater, but they normally don't serve that. And so you go back contemplating between the shit sandwich and grilled cheese.
Take the grilled cheese for fuck's sake!
Yes, ask Harris the important and tough questions, but do not act like the orange idiot is even close. Nikki Haley would have been equivalent to Harris, but the GOP wants a bully tyrant, a shitshow messiah. (The GOP should be called the Trump Party).
And to the cultists with the Trump flags, etc, you know that dictatorships do that, right? It is fucking weird to worship someone, it's sick. He's your messiah now, right? You all would choose him over Jesus if given that choice. Christian? The fuck you are, or maybe you are, that religion has always had an identity crisis between love and hate. Those on the side of love, might want to take your religion back.
Finally, to those voting for RFK, Jr. or another candidate, I don't give a shit. Your vote, your right. Live outside of reality, more power to you. And when our children start dying of measles or polio again, what will you do?
Anyway, my inner idealist wants to say a few words now:
Vote November 5th, vote your conscience, vote for democracy, vote for social security, vote for equality, vote for choice, just vote. I am an idealist who truly believes that voting does matter and that our better angels must win, lest our demons disguised as angels do. But out of my self interests, I don't want to be imprisoned or burned at the stake. And there are more of us afraid that will happen if you vote orange in November, some some of us are your loved ones. Just remember that.
