Dismantling

 

I have been teetering between anger and fear, with glimpses of hope in between. But most of my energy is anger. And who is the anger targeting? 

Well, first it will be those closest to me who voted for Orange Mussolini, sorry, Bastard. I can’t. I won’t. I am not sure I have other family members who expect me to break bread with those who voted against the people they love.  I cannot. My anger is too great to hold in and be cordial.  They are considered my opposition now.  They are considered hateful in my eyes, I don’t give a shit the bullshit excuse of the fucking economy.  But then again, maybe, I have a difficult time understanding how people that the same people raised as I was could be so different than me. I don’t expect us all to be the same on issues, but supporting a compassionless and hateful person?  I will always love them, but I need those lines drawn in the sand.  When I called him a fascist, I wasn’t being hyperbolic, but who cares, what do I know? It’s only what I studied my whole life.

To those loved ones who want me to put family before politics, I will not do this. It’s unfair of you all to ask me to do this, especially when you know how active I am in the political sphere. It’s not about partisanship, it’s not about red and blue, it’s about those who support a man who is a threat to our democracy.  This man called the major pandemic of our time a fucking hoax while telling our people to inject bleach.  The death toll for the height was 1.2 million Americans dead. And yet, as one of my favorite political comedians states, “Americans have the memory of a goldfish.” (Trae Crowder).  Oh, but it’s the reality that was created by the information or lies that they depend on.  I can’t put these things aside. I can’t forgive, not this time.  If this hurts you, it’s not meant to, it’s to hurt those who are so misinformed that they fell for a conman…again.  Thanksgiving will be difficult enough, but Christmas? I am sort of boycotting Christmas with the rest of the family. I don’t want to be around them.  

To the family and friends who did vote for him. I tried to convince you that there were mainstream Republicans that were fighting for this motherfucker not to get back in office. But you all ignored it. So it wasn’t about decency. I guess it’s my fault for helping, trying to maintain the status quo.

Well, the status quo is now going to rule this fucking country of ours. I am sure many of you have been hearing the term “Oligarchy”.  Learn this because that’s where we’re going even more now, more than ever. 

Oligarchy: a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution.

I know this word was and is being overused, but honestly, we’ve been heading in this direction since the 1980’s. 

We have two billionaires (immigrants I might add), one from South Africa and the other from Germany, who are now ruling this administration. Letting OB choose appointees from a pool of the most unqualified reality stars, a reality show from a fascist hell that we’ll all pay for just because of misinformed voters. The Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society, a bunch of rich and regressive fucks, are getting their way after 40-plus years of working toward this destruction of every policy of every Democratic President since the 1930s.   

The economy wasn’t better under the Orange Orangutan, I mean, Bastard. It was just that people were dying from a pandemic.  But who am I? Your “liberal” relative who is just trying to lie to you. For fucks sake, I tried to be that “moderate” for years. I was patient hearing your bullshit even over the fucking years, being patient and trying not to fight at family gatherings. That’s the fucked up thing, everyone gets mad at me when someone else brings it up.  Then those same family members act like I am the one who started it. Honestly, I was taught that if someone starts a fight with me, I should finish it. But maybe that lesson was for those of my siblings, and not me.

Are the Democrats perfect? Fuck no. Especially when you deal with individual politicians. They all have messiah complexes and have to be a little narcissistic.  The way campaigning is set up, you have to market yourself as a product to the public. You have to build yourself up. There is nothing wrong with that because that is how campaigns go. But when these politicians (of both parties) start believing their fucking hype, the hunger for power and notoriety grows and principles and ethics seem to go out the window. I just want to punch them in the throat. Of course, this is why I believe in term limits. I do. I love Bernie, but I strongly disagree with the “let the voters decide” bullshit. Do you know why? Because most human beings seem to hate real change, so they will vote for the same fucking people for generations. At some point, a politician should have some dignity and pass the fucking torch, but they don’t and they hold on to it until they die.  They love to follow saviors and cults of personality. I am convinced it’s the human condition. And never mind the fucking attitude when someone primaries the incumbent. Fuck, you’d think this wasn’t a democracy or something.

Trust me when I say there are Democrat cult followers too, just not as extreme as the Orange Bastard’s following. I argue with Democrats about not worshiping their politicians. I just want to scream and remind everyone, “THESE BITCHES WORK FOR US!”  Do not kiss their asses. I mean be respectful and thank them for their civil service, but don’t worship them. Don’t act like they're our messiahs. 

Speaking of working together. What the fuck is wrong with the American Green Party!  Jill Stein is an opportunistic narcissist. I ask, and I have always asked, why do leftist third parties go after the Democratic Party? As a leftist, it seems that the major party that I can work with to push policies that I favor is the Democratic Party. I can hope for the best, but will prepare for the worst. Will I get a half-assed compromise that I am not happy about? (See Affordable Care Act) Yes! But at least it’s a step in the correct direction. And these “leftist” parties lie to their cult followers (again not as bad as the Orange Bastard’s cult) about how America isn’t a two-party system. The fuck it ain’t. It is. It always has been. And Lincoln when he ran? The Republican party was new and the Whig party was on its way out. So I guess this would just mean that the American Green Party helps attack Democrats because you see yourselves as replacing them. But yet you all are ok with working with fascists who are opposite from the direction that you want to go?  This means that the American Green Party is only hungry for power and is no better than the other two parties. So fuck you.  You all laid with the enemy. You don’t care about human rights, the climate, or labor.  You all confused your European siblings with this shit. Honestly, I think the time of the Green Party is fucking over in this country or at least I am going to spend my remaining days to bury them along with Republicans.

Maybe I am a little biased but Social Democrats know which side their bread is buttered on. Let’s take Bernie Sanders, he usually sides with the Democratic Party. He even ran twice in the Democratic Primary, and he’s not a Democrat. Yeah, yeah, I know the conspiracy theories. Go kick rocks.  

Social Democrats are different from Socialists. One notable difference is that Social Democrats do believe in individual liberties while doing what is best for society. One example of that is creating a national healthcare system. Also, I believe that healthcare, education, housing, food, and access to clean water/resources are human rights. These things should not be based on a capitalist system, they shouldn’t be for profit, especially healthcare, education, and clean water. We tend to want a heavily regulated capitalist system. And no super wealthy.

 I think I will work together with this group and others like them, for example, The Working Families Party. This party worked for Harris because they knew what was at stake. To be fair, they actually asked their party members if they should. And I am guessing that they said, “YES”.  They did not lie about the bipartisan history of this country.

Why are we only basically a two party system? I have no clue. Maybe it’s the media/press since the inception of this nation. But if you want a viable multiple-party system, these parties have to start from the ground up with local elections.  The American Green Party just appears to be opportunistic assholes that hate the Democratic Party because they want to take their place. And money in politics. Early reports indicate that $16 Billion was spent on the Presidential elections. Billionaires and dark money bought this election. The South African billionaire, well, he’s going to be running the country along with the German immigrant. But we’ll get into that after January 20th. And talk about the third party some other time. I have been going off on tangents as I always do.

Back to my anger and relationships, I bring up the political parties and candidates because those relationships must be reexamined too, as well as my personal ones. I have learned that I must give my energy not to political parties but to organizations that fight for civil and human rights. No more walking doors for politicians but only for the groups that try to hold them accountable in the name of human rights. Will I always vote Democratic? Most likely, unless they move further right, then they will have to leave without me. But we must work together to ensure we do what’s best for those human rights. I do not have time to feed others egos, and most other working people do not. If you are someone who shares these views, please see what group fits with your beliefs, values, and personality. 

I know I do not belong with the Women’s March group.  I wish them love and power, but the egos in that group are just through the roof. Plus the pussy hats were funny at first, but then it seemed to be distracting from the serious message. And were there marches during the Biden Administration? I have a lot of criticisms of that group. For example, The Women’s March “protest”  when Roe was overturned in 2022, well it wasn’t a protest as much as a sanitized political rally. It was the most sterile and passionless march or rally I ever attended. So many of us there seemed to want to release anger and show our power, but it ended up being a march around a fucking park with all the politicians speaking. I am going to get hanged by some political allies for talking about this. One wonderful aspect of The Women’s March group that I noticed when I attended last week’s meeting is at least there was a more diverse group of women leading the seminar, so there is still hope for that young group.

Finally, and this relates a great deal to the dismantling of relationships, is the United States itself. Recently, it was explained to me that Americans have two different realities, a division that was made worse with corporate media including social media that helped create and reinforce these two realities. It was explained to me that facts do not matter in convincing others to change their viewpoints, not anymore. I am not convinced that this can be prepared, but we will try. As I have always said, political ideologies can be worse than religion. Well, I plan to research and write (as well as fight) for the minds of Americans to care about facts again. But I am not hopeful about this. However, this observation has answered the question: How could half the country decide to put this despicable person in the White House, twice? Many of you voted for, actually, I don’t care why you decided to put him back in the White House. I care about what is going to happen next.  One half of us voted for a better world with equal rights for all, healthcare, etc. and the other half voted for a dystopia because of hate. 

There was no bottom how hateful he could get, but you ate it up.  So there are two Americas. One who thinks billionaires and reality stars are not elitists but someone like me is one. What?! I went to Illinois State University. I went to Governors State University for my Masters. I didn’t go to Harvard or Yale, like JD Vance, but he’s from the working class. Well, he betrayed that a long time ago being the German immigrant’s working boy. 

And the other half, well, they’re a mixture like me.  Does “my” half agree on everything? Hell, no. But most of us know decency and the idea of tradition, rule of law, and due process. Ok, I only believe in the rule of law, as my inner anarchist likes to remind me, but anarchy is not for everyone, so I am a socialist democrat who believes not only in basic human rights but economic ones too, which includes a livable wage job. And that is what I am going to fight for and I will join anyone regardless of stances on other issues to preserve our democracy from demagogues and oligarchs who want authoritarian regimes. And as John Lennon says, “I hope you will join me,” because I would like to live as one.
